The use of intellectual standards to assess the quality of students’ argumentative writings

To comprehensively examine the quality of argumentative writing, it is important to integrate aspects structure and substance. This study seeks foreground application Intellectual Standards (IS) as a core component writing process. The research aims determine argumentation in terms using TAP Toulmin concept substance IS. participants were 80 high school students Central Java, Indonesia. A mixed method approach with an exploratory sequential QUAL-quan design adopted. results show that arguments low category. Structurally, 97.5% students' written ranged from 1.1 2.0 on scale 0.0-5.0. In substance, 81.25% ability scores are range 04.9 - 09.6 0.00-24.00. addition, findings completeness influences score. Furthermore, this can be used reference for teachers teaching argument texts.
